Blogging With Intention - Goal Check Up

I have been joining some friends over at Sweet Tea, LLC for a monthly link-up where we share our blogging goals, which keeps us accountable to each other.  If you missed my other posts, you can read them HERE and HERE.  This month I will be sharing how things went for  February and set a plan for what I want to accomplish during the month of March.

Having a detailed planner to write my goals down in helps tremendously, because I make a list of what I want to do at the beginning of each week, then I break it down into daily tasks.  I try to make it a point to spend time every day on my blog, and for the most part, it has worked!

Check out what I accomplished during the month of February:
  • Created a watermark for my blog photos using Pic Monkey and have added it to images on my current blog posts
  • Changed my Pinterest account to a Business account and have joined several Group boards that I am active on
  • Created the first edition of my Monthly Newsletter that will go out March 1st
  • Attended a Webinar on Mailchip presented by Kirsten which helped me get all of my forms set up and customized
  • Consistently joined 12 link-ups a week to interact with other bloggers and promote my posts
  • Posted to Facebook at least once a day to engage my readers
  • Wrote my first sponsored post from Family Christian and have one in the works
  • Created a simple editorial calendar in Excel to keep track of my scheduled posts and daily link-ups (Thanks to this post from Kirsten!)
  • Co-hosted my first Link-up  party
My personal editorial calendar
I feel like I am making great progress on my goals, even though I still have a to-do list a mile long! Below are some of the goals I want to achieve next month:
  • Work on email engagement - I only have 6 subscribers (not counting me and my husband), yet I get a lot of comments on my posts, so it seems like my readers are engaged
  • Work on my social media strategy by using my editorial calendar to plan my posts to Facebook and twitter using Buffer
  • Continue to apply for sponsored posts/collaborations
  • Find at least 2 more blog related Facebook groups and Pinterest groups to join, so I can gain more knowledge and exposure
  • Finish reading the eBook by Abby from Just a Girl and her BlogBuilding a Framework: The Ultimate Blogging Handbook and begin implementing some of her suggestions

I hope you will join me with setting your own goals for 2016!  Feel free to link up with me at Sweet Tea, LLC if you are a fellow blogger who needs some encouragement in achieving your goals!

  1. You are an inspiration! I don't even have hardly any of these goals worked on! But I really should. Mentally it's been a goal of mine to reach out and show some comment love to blogs I pass by. Comments are so important and it means someone took the time to read! :) I really really enjoy reading your goals and love seeing you grow!!

    1. Awwwww...thank you so much! You do not even know how much that means! Sometimes I look at others blogs (like yours) and feel so far behind. But then when I write down what I have done, I feel some better that I am making progress and will eventually be where you are!

  2. You've done an amazing job keeping up with your goals! Congratulations! :)

I really like how some of your goals are really simple like posting to facebook at least once a day. I tend to think of things in such an all-or-nothing way, that I avoid social media because I don't have the time to be super engaged on it all day. I should set a once a day goal :)

    1. Thank you so much! I think it is important to have small goals as well as loftier ones. And there may be days that I miss posting to Facebook, but that is OK. I can get back on track the following day. The point is trying to attain a consistent schedule.

  5. I've heard so many good things about "Building A Framework" - are you getting a lot out of it so far? Also, I have had so much luck with my email newsletter by offering a free printable to subscribers, so if you don't already have an opt-in offer, I'd recommend that! :-)

    1. Callie, I have only read a little of it, but it has a ton of great info. I have tried to implement some of it already. I am not sure what type of opt-in to create at this point, but I agree that would help with my subscribers! Thank you for your kind words!

    2. I agree with Callie, an opt-in can be so helpful in building your e-mail list! If you are unsure about what to create, you can look at your most popular posts and try to figure out something that works well with them!

  6. Such a great read, Mary! I recently purchased a great planner and am trying to be more intentional about setting blog goals for myself. Sometimes it can be overwhelming when I think of all I need/want to do. I really enjoyed your tips and may have to check out that monthly link-up.

  7. I've been working through goals too. I'm going through the Elite Blog Academy and finding it really helpful to go step by step with an experienced teacher! I've been blogging for a year and felt the need for a little more mentoring.

  9. Hi, I'm new to the blog with intention series but I look forward to meeting and connecting with everyone. It looks like you are staying on track with your goals that is my hope very soon. I also have just begun email newsletters. There is so much to tackle with blogging that it definitely feels like a full time job all ready. I need to work more on my editorial calendar. It is great to see how everyone else plans.
