This post has been a long time coming...about 2 1/2 years to be exact! This basement renovation was one of the main reasons I started this blog. I wanted to chronicle all the work we did on our basement with befores and afters, DIY tips, and lessons we learned along the way in hopes to help some other weekend warriors like us. Before I start, I have to give a shout out to my husband who worked tirelessly along my side and did not give up, even when we both wanted to. I have to say, if your marriage can survive a home remodel, it can survive about anything!

How to Create a Spooky Halloween Mantel
I am partnering with Oriental Trading to bring you ideas for a Spooky Halloween mantel.
Last week, I shared the Rustic Fall Mantel in my upstairs living room. Since we recently finished remodeling the basement, I decided that I would use the fireplace mantel downstairs to create a spooky display for Halloween. I know Halloween is still over a month away, but I get so excited about decorating for this holiday!
Ya'll know I love Oriental Trading! I have been a customer of theirs for years and now I am one of their ambassadors, which means I get free product in order to share these fun projects with you. Oriental Trading is a one-stop-shop for Halloween; they have everything you need from costumes, party supplies, and spooky home decor.

Rustic Fall Mantel and Wooden Toolbox Centerpiece
School is back in session and the mornings are getting a little cooler, which means it is time to break out the pumpkins and fall decor. I enjoy mixing neutral shades with the traditional orange and yellows of fall to create a rustic feel in my decor.

Updating a Mid-Century Modern Magazine Rack

Our house is a 1960's rancher, so we have designed our front living area in the Mid-Century Modern style to pay homage to the home's original era. My husband loves searching on ebay and craigslist for funky MCM finds to add to the living room decor.

Our Basement Renovation - Drywall, Drywall, and More Drywall
In my last update, I shared some of the random projects we were finishing up so we could embark on our dry wall journey. We have mostly been consumed with hanging drywall over the last few months. We had a ton of area to cover..three entire rooms, a couple of hallways, a mudroom, and the ceilings. I am not going to lie...hanging drywall sucks, but the upside is that it is starting to look finished!

DIY Removable Wall Quote
This post contains affiliate links for your convenience
A couple of months ago, I shared my new office space in the corner of my living room. I wanted to personalize the area with a meaningful quote to inspire me as I work. I had several ideas, but ultimately decided on "Be Brave." I feel like this speaks to where I am at in life right now. This year, more than ever I have been stepping out of my comfort zone in both my blog life and professional life, which I have shared with you recently.
I used my Cricut Explore Air and vinyl to create a removable wall quote. This is great for adding a personal touch to your office, kids room, or even a family room!

Welcome Spring - Decorating with Pastels
I love when the weather starts warming up and the bulbs in my yard start to bloom. It means that Easter and Spring is right around the corner, which calls for an update to my winter decor. I switch out snowmen for birds and bunnies and dark colors for pastels. Decorating for the different seasons does not have to break the bank. Most of my decor comes from discount stores like TJ Maxx (aff link), thrift shops, or Goodwill.
