When my friend invited me to a ladies night
Do-it-Herself workshop at Home Depot a few months ago, I immediately said "Yes!" I was surprised I had not heard of it before, since we make a trip to Home Depot literally every week for something on our
renovation list. This month the project was a wooden tool caddy.

If you have not heard of it, ladies night happens every third Thursday of the month and you get hands-on experience with working with tools and making a wood project. There are also snacks, door prizes, and free gifts; they also raffle off the finished project to one of the lucky ladies. You can choose to purchase your supplies before hand and make your own project at the workshop, which is what my friend and I did this month.

The workshop begins at 6:30, but we arrived a little early in order to start getting our pieces cut for the tool caddy. We were able to use a jigsaw (
one of my faves), chop saw, and finish nail gun. I was familiar with all of these tools, but if you are not, it is a great way to try them with assistance, which I think is less intimidating. The great thing about this class is that it is led by women, so I feel like it is easier to ask questions without feeling silly.

This project was one of the more complex ones we have done, just because of the number of cuts and nailing all the pieces together, but I feel like I could have made this by myself at home. I painted it with the clear
Thompon's WaterSeal and am using it to hold my gardening tools and gloves.
Next month they are making a
Beverage Cart, which if you follow me on
Pinterest, you know I have been saving ideas to make one of these for our pool area. Stay tuned to see how it turns out!

ReplyDeleteI agree! I was trying to decide how I wanted to use it. I have another one that I use to display flowers and jars in my home. You should definitely attend one of these workshops if you get the chance!
