Geometric Painted Vase

Are you hoarding a bunch of generic vases  in your cabinet? You know...the ones you get with floral arrangements? You do not really use them because they are not pretty and don't match your decor, but you can't get rid of them! I am back this month joining the Crafty De-Stash Challenge, to use some things I have on hand to pretty up one of my boring vases for springtime.

Here is what you need to make a geometric vase to brighten up your work space, bedroom, or kitchen counter!

Here is what you need to make a geometric painted vase to brighten up your work space, bedroom, or kitchen counter!

Supplies:
Plain Glass Vase
Assorted rubber bands
Spray Paint (I used Rust-Oleum Mirror Effect)
Clear Coat Sealer

Clean and dry the vase well, so the paint has a good foundation. Layer the rubber bands around the vase in any pattern you desire. I made some criss cross and geometric designs on mine.

Spray two light coats of paint on the vase, letting it dry between coats. Once the second coat is dry, spray the vase with a coat of the clear sealer, to protect the paint from scratches. So let me tell you about this paint...You are actually supposed to spray the reverse side of the item (that would be the inside of the vase)  so you get a mirror effect, but I actually like the matte gold color too! So this paint is like 2 colors in 1!

Carefully remove the rubber bands (I cut mine off) and display your pretty new geometric print vase with some spring flowers!

How easy is that? Now you can pretty up all those plain vases hiding in your cabinet and make some space for more craft supplies!

  2. What a great idea! I have quite a few vases sitting under my kitchen sink because I didn't want to get rid of them, but hated to use them because they weren't cute.

  5. Wow, this looks so great! I love the way the vase turned out, due to allergies, we get chocolates instead of flowers in our house, but I know the thrift store always has those vases for a quarter! I'd love to see you link this up at our next #HomeMattersParty
