Painted Terra Cotta Pots for Succulents

I am jumping on the succulent train, y'all...thanks to my friend Erin at Faith Food Family Fun! I have been seeing them everywhere and they are so cute, plus they are pretty easy to care for. I picked up a few mini succulents on my last Home Depot visit and found some mini terra cotta pots at the Dollar Tree, so a project was born! It is the perfect DIY gift for Mother's Day!

Paint brush
Assorted succulents

This project was so easy, it does not even require much instruction. I squeezed a couple of dollops of the paint into a paper plate and used the brush to apply it to the pots. I just used one coat because I liked the chalky finish.

I then added a bit of extra cuteness to the bright pots using my Cricut Explore and permanent vinyl to cut out the words "bloom" and "grow" to apply to the pots.

You will need the following for the vinyl words:

Cricut Explore
Outdoor vinyl
Medium grip cutting mat
Weeding tool
Transfer tape

I used the Cricut design space to create my own look by customizing the font type and size. I then cut the words on white vinyl and weeded out the excess.

I used transfer tape to help me apply the vinyl straight onto the pot.

I planted my succulents in the painted pots. Check out my friend Erin's posts over on Faith Food Family, Fun on how to care for succulents.

I also had picked up a cute little pink cactus and decided to use a little white bowl I picked up from Goodwill for its home.

Are you in love with succulents too? What kind of containers do you grow them in?

    1. They are super cute and I haven't killed mine yet! The flowers in the posts on my front porch...not so much! LOL!

  3. Easiest way to keep them alive is to ignore them. Easiest way to kill them is to water them often!
