What I am Reading - Curious Faith

A special thank you to Family Christian for providing an advanced copy of this book to review.

I was initially drawn to the name of the book, when I was presented with the opportunity to receive a copy of this book.  I have really been trying to connect more with God lately and have a bigger faith. The book, Curious Faith: Rediscovering Hope in the God of Possibility by Logan Wolfram shows you how to overcome the boredom of your daily life and rediscover hope and freedom in God's plan for your life.

The author tells the story of  how she overcame hardships and disappointments to rescue her "now" and explore the possibilities God had for her life.  I am encouraged and challenged by her words and I am ready to say "Yes" to what God has in store for me!  She struggles with so many of the same thoughts and fears that I do, and it was refreshing to hear that.  You do not have to let your circumstances rob you of hope if you pursue the God who is all-powerful.

My favorite chapter was 6: The Danger, because Logan Wolfram talked about how fear can paralyze us and how worry can be a killjoy.  I am a worrier..a "pre-worrier" even, as my husband would say, because I worry everything that COULD happen.  Two scripture references that I refer to almost daily remind me not to worry...Matt 6:25-30 and Phil 4:6-7.  Wolfram says that "as long as we allow worry to define our perspective, then we will always be prisoner to small possibilities."  I do not want to live that way! I want to have enough faith to trust God to bless me.

Wolfram also talks about having joy in waiting...another thing I am NOT good at.  If you search the Bible for verses about waiting, there are so many!  She says waiting cultivates strength and joy, even though it is hard, and sometimes painful.  This shifted my perspective and gave me some verses to lean upon when I get impatient in waiting for God's goodness to happen.

If you need help in living a curious faith and discovering the unlimited possibilities with our great God, then Curious Faith is for you!
