Decorating a Front Porch for Summer

I have shared several pictures of my deck, but I do not share my front porch very often...mainly because it is small and we do not really spend any time on it.  Today, I thought I would share with you how I decorated it for Summer.

Our front porch is small and only has room for a small bistro set, which is why we do not sit out there very often.  Since people see it from the road, I do like for it to look nice.  A couple of years ago, we updated the column to have a modern look.  I also painted our front door a cheery yellow and got rid of the boring and outdated burgundy color.

I purchased this lime green bistro set a few years ago when it was on sale at Home Depot, and intend on re-painting it soon, since it has faded.  I added red, floral  pillows that my Mother-in-Law made to the chairs and a small potted flower to the table.

I like to use coordinated colors for the flowers in my pots.  I also try to pick ones that do well in full sun since the front porch gets hit all day.   This year, I chose petunias, begonias, salvia, and lantana. How cute is my little elephant watering can that my hubby picked up for me on a recent trip to the hardware store?!

I like to change out the wreaths on the door for each season.  My crafty friend made me this beautiful burlap wreath, with an "H" for our last name.  I think the colors are perfect for Memorial Day and 4th of July, so this is my Summer wreath.

I have a small topiary tree by the door that I decorate for the seasons as well.  I currently have clothespin butterflies on it, that I picked up from World Market.   I obviously have a love for butterflies as you can see with my antique brass butterflies hanging by the door.  I found these last summer at a junk store for a few dollars!  I guess the birds like my porch because while I was taking pictures, I noticed a bird nest in the wreath...with baby birds in it!!!

What is your favorite part of my front porch?  How do you decorate your porch for the Summer?

  7. Loved your front porch decoration. Yellow door and beautiful wreath are the focal points of your front porch. In summers it is better to install awning to keep fresh flower decoration safe. http://www.roof007.com/windows/awning/ provide relaible awning services.
