Jack Skellington Luminary - Halloween Popcorn Box Challenge

I was thrilled when my friend Melanie invited me to be a part of the Popcorn Box Challenge, hosted by Laura Kelly Designs and sponsored by World Market.  I love Halloween, so I was definitely excited to see what I could come up with!   I kicked around several ideas, but once I got my package and saw the striped paper and spider brad, I knew what I had to do!

I decided to make a luminary, based on my favorite Halloween movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas.  I love this movie so much that one year my husband and I dressed up as Jack and Sally!

The items I received in my package from Laura were:
  • Popcorn box and Dark Chocolate bar: World Market
  • Udderly Smooth Hand Cream
  • Decorative papers and Halloween die cuts: AdornIt and Sizzix
  • Black and Orange Felt: Kunin Group
  • Halloween stickers and Personalized pencils: Oriental Trading

I painted the box white then cut out Jack's eyes and mouth, using a razor knife.

I used a pencil to draw the bow tie design on the backside of the AdornIt paper and then cut it out.

I used a bit of super glue to affix it to the box.

I added a flameless candle tealight and put it out on my porch to welcome Trick-or-Treaters!
