I love Halloween! If you have been following me for a while, you will know I love to dress up for Halloween and have won several costume contests over the years. Last year, my company decided to not have a costume contest for Halloween, like they had for years. It bummed me out, so I decided the night before to make an easy DIY geeky "non-costume-costume" using a T-Shirt.
Since this was last minute, (I literally decided to make it the night before Halloween!) I did not get all the process pictures, but I will share the steps since it is pretty easy to do. I used removable vinyl on my tee (since I didn't want to ruin my favorite white tee,) but you could also use Iron-on vinyl if you want it to be permanent.
Supplies Needed for the Geeky Halloween T-shirt:
Plain T-shirt
Step 1
Open up the Design Space software and search the Make It Now projects, or you can create a new project with your choice of font. If you are going to do an iron on, make sure to Mirror your design, prior to cutting.
Step 2
Load the mat with the vinyl into the cutting machine. Once the design has been cut, weed the excess vinyl.
Step 3
Decide where you want the lettering to go. Use Transfer tape to remove the words from the mat and place them on the shirt.
I added some plastic glasses with masking tape on the nose to add to my geeky look. I have to admit, most people did not get my tee or understand I was wearing a "costume," but that's OK. It was fun and a nod to my hubby who works in IT as a DBA.

This would be perfect for me! I always wait too long to get a costume and then I just give up and don't wear one. Altho, I did grab one at Target this year! Yay me!

DeleteWhat a bummer - about no dressing up for Halloween! =( Did they say why? Also was wondering if people were gonna understand it, thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteNo, they did not say, but we were all bummed!
DeleteThis is just so cute! You always feature the best Cricut projects. That's too bad about your company no longer doing costumes. Will you be dressing up to hand out candy?
ReplyDeleteJennie, I will definitely be dressing up...we have a trunk or treat so I do a theme with my trunk too! I can't wait to see what you dress up as too!
DeleteI liked your article and I hope you will have many entries or more
