Camping Essentials for a Newbie

This is a sponsored post written by me in collaboration with HomeRight. All opinions are mine alone.

Summer means spending more time outdoors with family. Even though we spend a lot of time by the pool, we also like to get out and enjoy nature. My uncle has a campground, so we decided to take an overnight camp trip and enjoy the fresh (and cooler) mountain air! This was actually my first time camping in a tent, so I decided to come up with a list of some essentials a newbie camper needs to have.

Most of these are no brainers, but I would like to highlight a few supplies that will make your first time camping trip a little more enjoyable. One is the ElectroLight Fire Starter from HomeRight. No need for rubbing sticks together or using chemicals to start your fire. All you need is an outlet and possibly an extension cord along with wood or charcoal. Our campground has electrical hookups, so this was not a problem. With a push of a button, you can have a fire going in 2-3 minutes!

Don't forget to pack some aluminum foil to cook with. There are a ton of easy foil packet dinners and snacks that you can quickly make on the grill, eat out of, then toss the foil; easy clean up!

Most of these items can be purchased at a dollar store, so you do not even have to spend much money buying supplies, then just pack them in a wooden box or canvas tote to have handy in the back of your car and carry to your camping spot.

  1. Bug spray is definitely a must! That would be at the top of my list. Haha!
