Lately I have been inspired by all of the neutral fall decor looks I am seeing online and in magazines. I especially love the white and chalky teal pumpkins, so I decided I would put some of my Deco Art paint from Haven Conference to good use and update a few of my mini pumpkins.
I picked up a pack of 6 fake pumpkins with pine cones at Big Lots for $8 and selected a couple of the neutral Art Deco colors from my paint stash.
Holding the stem, I used a small brush to paint the mini pumpkins. I initially thought one coat would be enough, but once the paint dried, I could still see some of the color showing through, so I painted another coat.
The colors I used were:
Deco Art Frosted Glass
Deco Art Picket Fence
Once dry, I arranged them in a shallow basket on my buffet, but they will probably end up on my fall mantle!
This project was so easy that I want to paint all my pumpkins now! Do you prefer the neutral pumpkins or the orange ones?
This is such a lovely DIY October tutorial, Mary! Absolutely loved it! Hubby and I can't wait to carve pumpkins & now I might also have a few little ones painted for decor purposes :) Thank you for sharing, lovely. Hope you're doing great!! <3

DeleteWhat a great idea. I keep seeing fake pumpkins at the dollar store, but never buy them because they look pretty cheap. This would be a great makeover for them!
ReplyDeleteAli, this is the perfect project for jazzing up some cheap pumpkins and you could even paint the stem as well with a little metallic paint!
DeleteCute makeover! Love the blue pumpkins!
