I skipped posting last week, because I honestly did not have time to make much progress. I am still waiting on the floor paint from Rust-Oleum that they are generously sending me. (Since it is a new product, there have been some delays.) In the meantime, I have been trying to organize my craft supplies a little better...mainly the rolls of vinyl, card stock, and chipboard. I have moved things around half a dozen times and think I have finally settled on a system...for now.
Here is a reminder of where my craft corner started...not horrible, but it could use some help.
I took advantage of the wasted space above my desk and added another shelf, half the length of the other one, to hold the round containers. I used my Cricut to make the labels for the containers using holographic vinyl. Check out my tutorial HERE.
I needed to come up with a better system for storing my rolls of iron on, vinyl, and leather. I previously had them stuffed between 2 boxes and laying on one of the shelves of the craft cart. I had a pink wooden box that I had found on clearance at TJMaxx, so I painted it Metallic gold to match the accents on the canvas box I planned on using for the iron on.
I separated out the iron on from the regular vinyl and used my handy EasyPress Mini to label the canvas box for my iron on vinyl. I rearranged the trays on the rolling cart so the Vinyl & Leather tray was on the top to hold the painted wooden box for my regular vinyl and faux leather.
I found these large, plastic scrapbook boxes to hold my 12x12 supplies such as card stock, poster board, felt, and chipboard. They fit on their sides on the cube shelf (and I even have room for one more.) I used holographic vinyl to label the boxes to match the containers.
The rolling cart has been re-organized to work better, with the supplies I use most being on top. I have acrylic paints, stacked plastic shoe boxes filled with small craft supplies, and my EasyPress Mini on the second shelf. The bottom shelf holds things like small canvases, cork squares, and acrylic panels for projects; along with my Cricut ruler/cutter.
I took advantage of the wall space above my desk with this hanging jar organizer to hold pens, pencils, and brushes. I used Command Hangers to keep my Cricut cutting mats within reach. The rest of my supplies are corralled in colorful wire baskets on the shelf and a ceramic toothbrush cup holds my Cricut tools.
